Day care chemotherapy with specialized ‘chemo chair’ facility is the most convinent and useful facility at Bengal Cancer Foundation. All chemo mixing done by specialized nurse and pharmacist under stringent medical supervision with ‘Biosafety cabinet’. There is stringent supervision regarding dosage amount, duration and monitoring of any complications. ‘Day Care Chemotherapy’ patients are discharged after chemotherapy infusion and observation.
Patients needs overnight chemotherapy infusion or more than one day chemotherapy are admitted in ‘Chemo ward’ under stringent medical supervision and nursing care. Medical officers observe the patients 24x7. Chemotherapy infusion done as per the instruction from the treating consultant. There is a provision of well-equipped Intensive care facility (ICU) in case any patient needs emergency care. Four bedded ICU is well equipped with monitors, ventilators and all other emergency gadgets. There is 24x7 medical officer and trained nurses available for emergency care. Haematological malignancy unit will be established soon with provision of bone marrow transplant services.
There is a four bedded 24x7 emergency facility for patients having complications after chemotherapy. Patients with haematological, gastrointestinal and other complications are taken care on urgent basis in emergency unit.
There is a special isolated febrile neutropenia care facility of patients with low blood count and high risk of infection.
